Costume
Maria's character will wear a colourful pink gym vest top, this makes it clear to the viewers that she is out exercising/jogging and the pink colour also infers her femininity and vulnerability as a young female jogging in the woods along. She is wearing tight gym leggings, which hinder on her sexuality and to the male gaze (Laura Mulvey) the tight clothing accentuates her petite frame, and therefore inadvertedley sexualising her to her predator. She is wearing running trainers, again to emphasise the fact that she is realistically out routinely exercising. Maria will have her hair up in a ponytail and will wear no makeup as she is a young female and it is normal to be makeup free whilst exercising . This adheres to her innocence and purity ,again something that lures her attacker.
Lucas's character 'The stalker' will be wearing a plain black hoodie, so that he adheres to his character as a stalker and is hidden in the shadows. Black also has connotations with danger, evil and mostly death. Is it foreshadowing Maria's fate? He is then wearing a pair of grey joggers that are also dull in colour, and therefore another piece of good attire to remain hidden in the shadows. It is also common for young males to be wearing these joggers and is realistic that he would not stand out initially. He then supports a pair of muddy old trainers which can suggest his class, education and maturity. His hair will not be seen as he will have his black hood up, adding to the unease and anguish of the narrative. PropsThe lock of hair, cotton buds, photographs and necklace all make it very clear that she is being obsessively stalked, and that the hooded figure knows all about her and has targeted her specifically rather than just being an opportunist attacker, or just simply following her as a 'joke'. the head phones make it clear that she is out jogging, and can not hear anything which makes her vulnerable and unaware of her fate.

Script WritingCreated using Visme. Free Online Presentation Software.
Branded as one of Hollywood’s “perfect” scripts, the screenplay for Casablanca boasts powerful drama, intrigue, memorable characters and witty dialogue. From analysing this script I have learnt that formatting and paragraphs are important when making a script as well as the obvious; its content.
A lesson in breaking all the rules, Quentin Tarantino’s screenplay for Pulp Fiction defies traditional structure, Tarantino’s epic of post-modern cinema proved that there was a place for operatic violence, and pushed the boundaries of unconventional characters and storytelling. The film changed the face of modern cinema. From this script I have learnt that the action and dialogue is written under the same name and on a separate line to that of the dialogue. This shows that the dialogue and action is done by the same person.
Based on the actual case files of one of the most intriguing unsolved crimes in the nation's history, Zodiac is a thriller from David Fincher, director of "Seven" and "Fight Club." From this script I have learnt that you need to clearly state on your script where the scene takes place and on a separate line what happens and directions for the characters.
From this research I have learnt and observed the patterns:
Final Script
Our opening sequence won't contain much dialogue, since it does not seem fitting. Our main priority will be trying to establish an eerie atmosphere, where the viewer is worried for Maria. Maria will be bing followed whilst jogging in the woods and then once she notices she is being followed, she begins to run from her predator. The only dialogue will be at the end when she is with a psychiatrist.
AMENDMENT TO SCRIPT Maria herself does not speak any dialogue as she is so traumatised by the unknown event that happened between her and her stalker. Dr Leighton simply says "so, Maria, tell me how it all started" along with a further "Maria" This is to add emphasis to the fact that Maria is non-responsive as she is so traumatised and fragile from the events that occurred. media script by api-349674325 on Scribd StoryboardA storyboard is a graphic organizer in the form of illustrations or images displayed in sequence for the purpose of pre-visualizing a motion picture, animation, motion graphic or interactive media sequence. First DraftFinal DraftCompany Production LogoI also researched popular film production logos to gain an insight into what sells and what is memorable. I learnt that there were common characteristics when it came to making a successful production logo successful. I have created a simple checklist to help me when making our logo:
Inspiration For Our Production Company Logo
We felt that the name 'Bloodshot Productions' was a name that adhered perfectly to out genre and also coincided with out idea of using an eye as our logo. Our first idea was to have a really plain simple logo, with red and black and some clear text. Once we came up with this product: I felt it lacked professionalism and wasn't very inspiring so I began to research motion graphics and came across Apple's Motion software. I looked at a few tutorials to get me started and then began to creat a new logo still with the same idea of keep an eye as the focal point. Here is a video of me making the logo on Motion: Final Production Company LogoHere is a still of our logo: Here is our logo in motion: Filming ScheduleOur filming schedule is another crucial part of our media project; it dictates everything and it will keep us on track. The concept behind it is that we are organised, when we start filming the opening sequence. It tells us what actors, props and costumes are needed in each scene and it approximates the length of each shot.
Choice of MusicDiegetic sound: This sound is part of the mise-en-scene. It can be heard by characters in the scene, so it could involve the heightened sound of paper being crumpled, or the hollow ringing of a gunshot being fired. Non-diegetic sound: This is sound that the characters within the frame cannot hear and are oblivious to. It may have been added post-production to suggest a particular mood and atmosphere. Music is an important audio code that can convey a lot of information, in a relatively short amount of time. For instance, an audience might be able to figure out the genre of a film by its choice in music. Typically, horror films will use orchestras, string instruments and/or music boxes to create tension and build suspense. The music often increases in speed, before it reaches its pivotal moment. However some films such as 'Reservoir dogs' are rather unconventional as it plays an upbeat happy song (Stuck In The Middle With You) whilst Mr.Blonde is brutally attacking the victim and cutting his ear off. Music For My Opening SequenceI want you-Charles Kreamer
I chose this piece of music because of it seemed to adhere to its genre in an unconventional way. The upbeat tempo when Maria is running, and the fact that it comes on as she plays her music on her phone suggest we are listening to what she is listening to on her headphones. This creates a sense of formality withe the character as we hear the song she likes to play when she goes for a run. It is also royalty free and has no copyright restrictions
This is the only music that plays in our opening sequence as the natural diegetic sounds from the woods added to the creep, eerie atmosphere and we felt that there was no need to put any other sound. |
